The Mabin School is committed to modelling excellence in progressive, coeducational, elementary education. This school year alone, visitors from Chile, Denmark, New Zealand, Australia have already to come and see us at work. Our excellence depends on a constant renewal of resources to support the innovative teaching and learning happening at our school.
This renewal of resources cannot happen without our Annual Giving Campaign, which we are launching today. All independent schools rely on gifts to the Annual Fund to offset a portion of their operating budgets and to help bridge the difference between tuition revenue and the full cost of educating each student. As you already know, tuition mostly pays for staffing — we rely on other income to fund the costs of providing your children with an exemplary program.
Last year, in our Mabin ReWired Campaign, our goal was 100% participation and $100,000. We achieved 98% participation and raised over $150,000! All funds, unless otherwise specified by the donor, went towards upgrading our technology. Thanks to you, we were able to rewire our network, update our laptops and ipads, provide Apple TVs to classrooms, augment our collection of robotics and coding apparatus, and improve our security system. Soon we will be purchasing a new sound and lighting system for plays and assemblies.
This year, our goal continues to be 100% participation and $150,000. This year’s campaign, “The Mabin School Pumps It Up,” focuses on purchases that have to do with “going to the gym”:
Recreational equipment (e.g. basketball hoops, foam blocks)
A new sport court for the gym roof
1) New lockers
2) New lunch tables
3) Physical Education equipment
4) Wellness initiatives
If you prefer, there is also an option to donate to a Principal’s Discretionary fund, which we use for more immediate needs (e.g. field trips, guest artists).
Like last year, we will focus our campaign from mid-October to mid-December (although donations are welcome at any time). This timing allows us to invest in our current students’ experience immediately.
