Sama Dudin is our Primary Art Teacher for Kindergarten to Grade 3. She was born and raised in Jordan, and moved to Toronto in 2008 to fulfill her double major in Economics and CCIT (Communication, Culture, Information, Technology) at UofT. Sama is happiest when learning from and with her students. She is committed to supporting children in learning the language of art, empowering them to use art’s potential for expression, meditation, activism, and more. While completing her MA in Child Study and Education at OISE, Sama developed strong interests in social-emotional learning, social justice education, and empathy in the classroom. She brings her impassioned perspectives and background into the art room, using the visual arts to help students explore their own social-emotional needs, as well as those of others. She fell in love with the Mabin School community while volunteering in the art room during the final year of her Master’s program. Outside of school, Sama enjoys freelance graphic design, exploring new music, and being a foodie! She is obsessed with octopi, spiders, and mermaids, which you’ll find frequently represented in her own art. Sama is currently working on writing and illustrating her own children’s books.
