Our Team

Sana is a Partner at Lenczner Slaght and co-leads the firm’s Intellectual Property practice. She represents diverse clients in patent, copyright, and trademark matters, at all levels of the Ontario and Federal courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada. Sana is Chair of the firm’s IDEA Committee and a diversity champion who spearheaded ReferToHer in 2019, a series of lists of experienced female lawyers to whom lawyers and clients can confidently refer work. Sana has been recognized for her professional expertise by prominent ranking publications including Chambers, Lexpert, and IAM Patent 1000. She holds a JD from the University of Toronto, a BSc in Biochemistry from Queen’s University, and a MA in Biotechnological Law and Ethics from the University of Sheffield, UK. Prior to entering private practice, Sana clerked for Justice Rosalie Abella of the Supreme Court of Canada. Sana is frequently invited to speak on topics in intellectual property, advocacy and diversity in the profession. Sana has held numerous volunteer leadership positions including as a member of the Federal Courts Rules Committee, Director and Secretary of the Writer’s Trust of Canada, President of the University of Toronto Alumni Association, and Director of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada. Sana lives in Toronto with her husband, two sons (one currently attends, and the other just graduated from The Mabin School) and an Aussie pup named Georgie.
